Global Call to Action against Poverty is committed to safeguarding your privacy online.

The Global Call to Action against Poverty is an international campaign run by a coalition of supporting organisations from around the world (Supporting organisations include: all listed partners)

The information you provide helps us understand more about how our site is used. It also enables us to send you relevant communications when you indicate that you wish to be kept updated about the Global Call to Action against Poverty that may be of interest to you, either electronically or otherwise. The 'personally identifiable information' is information that enables us to identify you, such as your email address, name, title, and address.

This policy governs all pages hosted at whiteband.org,  registration for that site and the use of the “ActionNow End Poverty and Inequality” – action widget. It does not apply to pages or other hosted content by other organisations to which we may link to and whose privacy policies may differ.

1. What personally identifiable information does the Global Call to Action against Poverty collect from me?
The Global Call to Action against Poverty collects the following information regarding visitors to www.whiteband.org including: what pages are accessed and information volunteered by you, such as email address, gender, age, country location and survey information.

2. How does the Global Call to Action against Poverty use my information? T
The Global Call to Action against Poverty uses the information we collect about you to help us with understanding more about how our site is used and to be able to send you communications that may be of interest to you, either electronically or otherwise.

3. Who is collecting your information?
When you are on whiteband.org and are asked for personal information, you are sharing that information with the Global Call to Action against Poverty, alone (i.e. the Global Call to Action against Poverty and your relevant country or regional GCAP campaign) unless stated otherwise.

4. What are my choices regarding, collection, use and distribution of my information?
If you indicated that you are interested in receiving updates on the Global Call to Action against Poverty, these will be sent to you from time to time. Your information will also be shared with  your relevant regional or  national GCAP campaigns as they are formed, as indicated in Question 3.

The Global Call to Action against Poverty will not sell or rent this information to anyone. If you participate in an on-line action, e.g. signing a petition, sending an e-mail, letter or fax, these actions are not always anonymous to the target, and Corporations and Governments may respond to your personal e-mail address or physical address if you have provided these.

The Global Call to Action against Poverty takes no responsibility for the content of use of your email address by campaign targets such as Corporations and Governments.

5. What is the Global call to Action against Poverty’s policy on allowing me to update, correct, or delete my personally identifiable information?
The accuracy of your individual identifying information is important to the Global Call to Action against Poverty. If you change email address or any of the other information we hold is inaccurate or out of date, please email us at: info@whiteband.org

6. With whom does the Global Call to Action against Poverty share your information?
The Global Call to Action against Poverty will not disclose any of your personally identifiable information. The Global Call to Action against Poverty will share with relevant  national and Regional GCAP coalitions. The Global Call to Action against Poverty does not sell on lists to others.

7. How does the Global Call to Action against Poverty protect my personal identifiable information?
The Global Call to Action against Poverty is committed to taking reasonable steps to protect the individual identifying information that you provide to us.

8. What security precautions are in place to protect the loss, misuse, or alteration of my information?
When you give The Global Call to Action against Poverty personal information that information may be stored and processed outside of the UK and we take steps to ensure that your information is treated securely. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, the Global Call to Action against Poverty cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission, we make our best effort to ensure its security on our systems.

9. Special details about the “ActionNow End Poverty and Inequality” – action widget.

1. What personally identifiable information does the “ActionNow End Poverty and Inequality” action widget, collect from me?
The “ActionNow End Poverty and Inequality” – action widget, collects the following information, as volunteered by you, when you participate in the action, such as, your name, country, email address, and action messages you have chosen. We may also collect anonymous statistical information to show global message tally numbers, as well as standard anonymous website views and usage details of the widget for internal use.

 

2. How does the ActionNow End Poverty and Inequality” – action widget use my information?
The information collected by the “ActionNow End Poverty and Inequality” – is used for the following

1.  Used in campaign moments, as indicated on the widget, both in online and offline actions, to ensure that the messages you choose to support, get used to put pressure on the targets of the campaign that you have signed. In this case your name and country and message/s you choose are they only information used.

2. If you have chosen to receive more information, when you submitted your details, you will receive email communications from the organisation that hosted the, “ActionNow End Poverty and Inequality” Widget action you added your details to.  Unless, they state in their action confirmation email that GCAP will communicate with you instead, as they do not have the ability to do it themselves.

3.  Statistical and analytical data on widget action usage will be used to improve the widget technically and provide information on its effectiveness.

 

3. How is your information collected and shared?
The “ActionNow End Poverty and Inequality”  - Widget action is a global action, that many different organisations are taking part in, by hosting the widget action on their website.  The Global Call to Action Against Poverty is co-ordinating this action and personal data collected, is hosted on an independent and secure database, on behalf of the all the organisations involved.

Organisations taking part “ActionNow End Poverty and Inequality”  - Widget action, will only receive the details of people who have submitted details via the action, on their organisation’s website and also chosen. to receive more information.

 If you do not indicate that you want to receive more information, your details, will only be used for the duration of the campaign action as indicated in Question 2. 1. and 2.3. At the completion of the campaign action, your details will be deleted from the database.

GCAP will only contact users who provided their details via the action widget and choose to receive more information, or if there is a previous agreement with another organisation for GCAP to manage the communication with users who provide their details and choose to receive more information.  If this agreement has been made it will be clear to the user in the confirmation email they receiving after submitting their details and will also be listed as publicly as part of this privacy policy.

 GCAP does not sell, the information it collects. GCAP only shares information to organisations, if the user who has submitted the details, has indicated that they would like to receive more information from, that organisation. If you have indicated that you wish to receive more information from an organisation, that organisation is also bound by it’s own privacy and data privacy agreement. 

GCAP is not responsible for how the organisation you choose to receive information from, handles your information, after they receive it from GCAP.

4. What are my choices regarding, collection, use and distribution of my information?
If you indicated that you are interested in receiving updates on the ActionNow End Poverty and Inequality  - Widget action. You will be sent email communications by the organisation on whose website that you took submitted your details via the widget action.  GCAP is not responsible for the content of these communications between the organisation and individuals, or any updating of your details with these organisations.  For users who selected to receive more information on a www.whiteband.org website, GCAP’s existing privacy policy will be used.

2. Global Call to Action against Poverty reserves the rights to change these Terms and Conditions at any time by posting changes online. Your continued use of this site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of this agreement as modified.

3. You agree to use this site and the “Action Now End Poverty and Inequality – Action Widget” only for lawful purposes, and in a manner which does not infringe the rights, or restrict, or inhibit the use and enjoyment of the site by any third party.
